Dancing, a timeless form of expression, has been embraced as a love language by many. Whether you’ve been a lifelong dancer or have gradually learned its steps over the years, like I have, you’ll understand the profound emotions it can convey. For me, dancing has become a way to communicate the innermost aspects of myself. This realization dawned on me while living in Panama, where the rhythmic beats of classic Salsa tracks like “Suavemente” echoed through the air. It’s truly remarkable how a song like that can remain endlessly captivating—I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve moved to its groove, yet it still drags my a** to the dance floor every-time with the same enthusiasm. I don’t understand!
My time in Panama left me with a profound desire to hold onto the art of salsa dancing. Upon returning to Richmond, I found myself immensely grateful for a group of friends who had mastered the art of the 8 count Salsa and Bachata. Their guidance led me to various salsa hotspots in the city, each with its own unique charm. If only my work schedule allowed, I’d be dancing away nearly every day of the week.
Though my schedule doesn’t permit, you certainly can indulge your desire to dance to your heart’s content. Salsa communities not only offer a platform to meet new people but also provide an avenue to share joyful moments with friends and strangers alike.
